Continuing my exam of Romans 2;

Now you, if you call yourself a Jew; if you rely on the law and boast in God; if you know his will and approve of what is superior because you are instructed by the law; if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light for those who are in the dark, an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of little children, because you have in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth— you, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself?

It is more important to teach yourself to be good, so that you can be example for those who need it.

You who preach against stealing, do you steal? You who say that people should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?

The truth is that no one is perfect. I try to be a good person and I'm sure you do too but we all make mistakes.

You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?

This is a very important reason to stay humble and embrace love: when yoi condemn people or judge people you can drive people away from faith.

What's curious about this is that it hit my data stream 2 days ago. That's when articles first started to appear. In that time I can't find any mention of it in the big networks, only smaller publications.

Is big media making the smart choice in withholding this information?

A recent article published by CNN was a nice little write up about the job FEMA had done in NC after hurricane Helene.

Yet after President Trump admonished FEMA, CNN quickly changed their story and decided maybe FEMA hadn't done a great job.

God “will repay each person according to what they have done.”

Sounds pretty straightforward to me.

A little further on:

There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism.

Christians, News, Muslims, Hindus, and lesser known faiths all face the same fate in the end. Don't think that your religious affiliation protects you. What protects you is doing good.

All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.

Even if you've studied the Bible for 50 years you don't have the divine right of judgement. And a person who does not judge can be more righteous even if they've never read the Bible.

Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.

When you listen to your conscience and do the right thing, it makes you righteous in God's eyes. If you ever question yourself and stress over moral implications, you're on the right path.

God's Righteous Judgement

A Perception of Romans 2

I am surprised at how often I hear self-proclaimed Christians slinging curses.

I hear the condemnation of one for homosexuality, another for addiction, still another for promiscuity, or any other number of common afflictions.

What does Paul say in Romans 2?

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.

This is literally the opening statement. You who pass judgement are condemning yourself.

Now we know that God’s judgment against those who do such things is based on truth.

God understands why you've made the decisions you've made. Therefore God is the only one who is capable of accurate judgement.

So when you, a mere human being, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God’s judgment?

What this sounds like to me is that if you judge others you invite divine judgement upon yourself.

Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

God's mercy is meant to be an example, not only a blessing. Look inside your own heart for your own wrongs and spare the judgement for One who is capable.

But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.

Every time you judge someone you invite the Wrath of God.
